Littla Scotland Cottage Lostwithiel in Fowey Valley

LITTLE SCOTLAND

sleeps 4

VisitBritain

3 Stars

The name probably comes from its resemblance to a Scottish crofter's cottage; it was thatched until sixty years ago and still has the original lead lights. This attractive little detached lodge at one entrance to the farm estate consists of a cosy lounge with inglenook fireplace, cloam-oven and log burning stove, a fitted pine kitchen with dining area and a bathroom with electric, above-bath shower. Upstairs are two cosy bedrooms, one double, the other twin-bedded. The cottage has its own car parking and garden running up to the orchard.

Granny's Cottage Cottage Lostwithiel in Fowey Valley

GRANNY'S

sleeps 4

4 Stars

The name of this property refers to Granny Nichols who used to stay here more than 150 years ago while visiting her son in the farmhouse. This charming cottage has a fitted kitchen with the chef's comfort in mind: pine cupboards, a four ring gas hob, electric oven and large fridge freezer and ample worktop space. There are also a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen looks through to the cosy dining area and comfortable living room with an open fire. The interior well, no longer used for the laundry, has been crafted into an unusual, glass-topped coffee table. A light illuminates the well. A fine glassed-in granite staircase leads upstairs to the spacious, south-facing master bedroom with romantic four poster bed. The second bedroom has twin divans and looks onto the back garden with its rare 35 foot rhododenron specimen tree, a blaze of crimson in spring. There is also a shared and sunny, south-facing garden.
